Theme Builder! The first native SummerBoard theme maker.
Recently Gates from #iphone on irc.efnet.net proposed the idea of a native summerboard theme builder. After a day or so of conversing I decided to code ThemeBuilder (Also know as WinterBoard, ThemeBoard). It is now available from BigBoss’s installer repository (iphone.sleepers.net) which is also a Community Source. It supports editing current summerboard themes as well as creating new ones. To use your own images put them in /var/mobile/Library/ThemeBuilder (1.1.3 & 1.1.4) or /var/root/Library/ThemeBuilder (1.0.0 up to 1.1.2) in their respective directories.

PS: If you would like to make an Image Pack for installer, follow this simple guide. ThemeBuilder supports four different image types: Wallpaper, Dock, StatusBar, and Icons. To make categories on the image selection list, make a subfolder with the category name. If there are no subfolder categories, ThemeBuilder will skip the category display list. If there are any categories ThemeBuilder will place all images not in a category into an Others category. For a sample, install TB Demo Image Pack from installer, and see how it places images.
Are there any simple ways (not over Wi-Fi) to get in and drop files in the iPod Touch’s file directory on Windows? –Drop me a link please?
I think this is awesome and very much appreciated. However I ran into a problem after playing with it for a while. I had about 4 SummerBoard themes installed. I used CyberDuck and SSH to move all the icons from those themes to the appropriate Theme Builder folder. I then deleted the SummerBoard themes. I then created my own theme using your program and mixed and matched any icon I wanted. Everything is great. But, when I try to download a new theme from Installer, I get the “Package download failed!” Error. Any thoughts?
ThemeBuilder was moved from the ModMyiFone repo to BigBoss’s repo. Uninstall everything ThemeBuilder wise, refresh sources and reinstall.

Mike, You need SSH or iPhoneBrowser to upload them to the /var/mobile/Library/ThemeBuilder directory on your iphone

Thanks Max on building and releasing this and thanks Gates for giving Max the idea
Hey there, Max.
Thanks a bunch. The app is amazing.
A ‘duplicate’ function would be nice, so that original themes are left intact and changes made to the duplicate. Or maybe you could implement a backup/restore-icon function.
Thanks a lot. Keep improving your apps. I’ll donate as soon as I get paid lol.
P.S. I wish summerboard could ‘catch’ the usage time before a respring and set it again after the respring. If it’s possible, add that when u add the smbprefs replacement function.
Sorry to bug you again. Usually, themes don’t have icons for all apps. When modifying a theme in ThemeBuilder, I can add icons for apps that don’t have any. I can only modify apps that the theme already has an icon for. Would it be possible for you to let us ‘theme unthemed apps’?
Thankyouuu.
K byeeeeee.
This app is fantastic! Just one feature request:
Could you include the option of selecting an icon from within a Summerboard theme? For example, I have a large selection of icons in my Agua theme folder, but the ones that I don’t use have 0s or 1s, etc., at the ends, so that they are not using for the icons. It would be great if I could select one of those alternate icons from ThemeBuilder.
Thank you.
wow. thanks price. ive been googling on this for a while and so far i havent been able to find anything. thanks man.
you too max.
max..i dont know if you’re there or not but ive got a question.
i did the whole ssh thing with the winscp etc.
i did everything right, i made no mistakes, and i have all the pictures/other stuff in the theme builder that i want.
except, when i select ‘wallpaper’ when creating a new theme, then it takes a while for it to load and actually take my to my wallpapers. i put some wallpapers from other themes, and put them inside of the theme builder wallpaper section.
now. what i did, is i took about 30 pictures, and put them all into the TB Wallpaper section. right underneath your demo image pack. everytime that i select my pictures in the wallpaper section, it either freezes or takes me back to home.
can you tell me what i am doing wrong?
or is it possible a patch/fix is needed?
-mike

Thanks, where can i get docks and icons i got the demo pack, i now where to get the wallpapers but not the rest, can u please help me
Well Daniel, you cant really just download icons/wallpapers/docks/etc. straight from the installer yet. the olny available stuff is the Demo Image Pack in the installer. If you know how to SSH, then you can SSH pictures into your ipod and then create your own themes with your pictures. but for now there are no docks and icons to download. the olny way you can get docks and icons is if you copy and paste them from other summerboard themes, or you create them yourself.
Hey guys, sorry for posting for the 5th time, but i just wanted to share with anyone here or anyone who will visit this blog that i have a tutorial onhow to add your own images to Theme Builder using SSH.
Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3uwVHn0g3I
Hi All, thanks for implementing such a great idea! I’ve added my own icons and they all show up listed under “Icons”. I’m running this on 1.1.3 and I am finding it crashes every time I try to use it. any suggestions?
This App is isane (in a good way)… but does anyone kno if there are any ThemeBulider image packs (besides TB Demo Pack) available on Installer. Or will you have to do everything via SSH? …
