MxTube 1.5 Expected Updates
I’ve received numerous emails regarding MxTube 1.5. Here are some new features you can expect in the next update:
Proxy Settings
MxTube 1.5’s background downloader uses libcurl instead of Apple’s downloading APIs. Therefore all proxy settings like those for tzones are ignored. libcurl supports using a proxy and if I cannot set it to use the user proxy settings, I will add a small settings panel for custom proxy settings.
Localization
All iPhone apps have the ability to read from a dictionary of localized strings, making translation very easy. The next update will implement localized strings allowing anyone to translate MxTube into any language.
TV out (maybe)
Apple’s Movie Playing class in the SDK has no documented methods to enable TV out. I’m going to take a look at the YouTube app to see how it is enabling TV out and if possible incorporate it into the next MxTube update.

Hey I love the new mxtube but I have one request. Would you be able to make it so that when you press the top sleep button the video’s music continues playing when the screen goes off. I know this feature was in the old version but it’s not in the new version, I don’t think. Thanks.
yes, the new version not work when press the sleep button, it is really bad and hard to enjoy the music, max do you have any comment this technical pb?
On firmware 2.0 Applications are suspended, the old MxTube would not suspend because it would be downloading videos. Now that MxTube has a background downloader it suspends like all other applications.

Max the author of synchstep ran into this problem as well, and as both apps require to some extent the phone being able to lock whilst playing, this is annoying at best. One of the main things I used the old mxtube for was listening to the audio whilst my screen was locked, so the lack of this featurec is frustrating. One possible solution for you to look into is an application called insomnia, available on cydia. It allows apps to continue to run whilst the screen is locked. Would you possibly be able to do anything with this? Hope so!
max your app is awesome, but i liked when i could lock the screen and listen to music. when 2.0 is finished and you release it, i hope you could create another ver like 2.0-2 or something like that that for the users that would like to use your app with lock screen and wouldnt mind if the background downloader didnt work. Im definetly one of those; 9i prefer to lock my screen and hear that to have background downloader. Well i hope you read my comment. THANX FOR MX TUBE.
Huge fan of MXtube, but would it be possible to export videos to the iPod video app? (Obviously for this it would need to automatically download videos to the computer when synching, or else they would just disappear).
Otherwise, how do we relocate on our own/is it possible?

Hey Max,
I want to say that I’ve been using Mxtube since release and it’s a great piece of software. Recently, I’ve switched almost exclusively to it, because I found syncing with different itunes accounts frustrating and having lost music many times due to this I decided to switch entirely to mxtube for music(with video as a bonus).
Here are two suggestions that will make (subjectively) this app even greater:
1)Possibility of audio only download.
2)As pointed above, playing in sleep mode would be great. I tried Insomnia, but it still shuts down the program after a screen lock.
3)(!) Playlist implementation? My library is getting quite big, and mxtube is taking a while to load and scrolling is jaggy. I’d like to have some (even very basic) playlist capabilities.

Hi Max, Thanks for the superb program. Is the any chance of adding Redtube to the websites we can download videos from? I believe it should not be a problem as it is a sister site to Youtube. Kind Regards

) of your app.. i ‘m really anxious for the proxy setting , without it i can only use wifi at home and it was fantastic to use mxtube everywhere … so i cant’ wait for this mod.
For the video out, i don’t think you have to do anything to support it. with older 1.1.4 version i have tried mxtube videos with one of that cheap tv out cables sold on ebay for few bucks .. and was working perfectly. The program that you use to play the videos, the player itself it’s doing the video out work.
The problem with 2.0 firmware and above is that the cheap cables are not working anymore, because apple has changed something in the authorization scheme. there’s a very interesting 3d on hackint0sh about it.

An exploit has just been found but a patch still need to be coded , so maybe you can help that guy in this..

the version for 2.0.1 doesn’t play videos like the older one did with the tzones 5.99 plan. Would it be possible to fix this?
Yea the one i downloaded for firmware 2.0 doesn’t let me play youtube videos with my tzone plan but when i had 1.1.4 it worked perfectly =[

Just wanted to give a little tip for those that have been trying to port their old MxTube videos to the new application, they will notice that the videos aren’t going to play.
This is due to the VideoLibrary.plist format.
In your /var/mobile/Library/MxTube/ folder you will the VideoLibrary.plist.
Download it via your favorite client and edit the for the video file.
I’ve downloaded all of my videos as ‘high’ format, MP4.
The key was:
videoHigh
When the new app is expecting:
high
Changing all of those values videoHigh to high fixed the issue
the strange thing about sleep mode is that MobileFinder for 2.0 firmware does play videos and mp3 downloaded with safari plugin and even if you turn video off everything works well. i don’t think that that app has his own player and uses the default one, so why does mxtube use another player to reproduce downloaded files?

As a new feature, the ability to import downloads into itunes would be nice using gnuPod. Little coding would be required. Having a GUI for that kind of work would be nice.

It’s happening on 2 different 1G iPhones that were ZiPhon unlocked, jailbroken, and activated.
I can use Youtube without issue.
